Aces vs. Liberty Prediction & Odds: WNBA Preview

  • The Liberty are 4.5-point favorite in their opener against the Aces.
  • My Aces vs. Liberty prediction backs a strong start by New York.

Coming off their first title in franchise history, the New York Liberty will begin their 2025 season with a home matchup against the Las Vegas Aces at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday at the Barclays Center on ABC.

According to the latest WNBA odds, New York is favored to defeat Las Vegas in a rematch from the 2023 WNBA Finals. But can the new-look Aces pull off the upset?

Aces vs. Liberty Odds

  • Aces spread: +4.5
  • Liberty spread: -4.5
  • Total: 168.5

Aces vs. Liberty Prediction & Best Bet

Based on the updated WNBA betting lines, I predict New York will get off to a strong start in Saturdayโ€™s Aces vs. Liberty showdown.

As of this writing, the BetMGM online sportsbook doesnโ€™t offer first-half lines for this game. But Iโ€™d be willing to back the Liberty at -2.5 or better, though Iโ€™d imagine there will be a -2 available based on how the market has reacted toward the full-game line.

Iโ€™m also tempted to take the plus-money price on the Liberty to win the first half and full game.

These were the two best teams in the first half of games last year, but New Yorkโ€™s net rating (+11.4) was comfortably ahead of Las Vegasโ€™ mark (+8.1). That includes a +18.5 net rating in the first half for the Liberty in their three head-to-head matchups with the Aces.

I expect the Aces to experience an adjustment period at the start of the season. In the offseason, they traded for Jewell Loyd, shaking up a championship core.

The Liberty, meanwhile, will kick off the season by playing in front of a terrific crowd on ring night. That should give them plenty of momentum at the start of this matchup.

Prediction: Liberty 1H spread (-2.5 or better)
