Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson cemented herself as one of the greatest players in league history following her 2025 campaign.
In addition to guiding the Aces to an improbable championship after their 12-13 start to the year, Wilson became the first player in league history to win a fourth MVP award. She received 51 of 72 first-place votes and 21 second-place votes (657 points) from a national panel of sportswriters and broadcasters.
Wilson averaged 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.3 blocked shots, and 1.6 steals in 31.2 minutes in 40 games. Wilson began as a +200 preseason favorite last year, but Minnesota Lynx forward Naphessa Collier led the race for much of the year before a late-season injury.
With the 2026 season around the corner, WNBA odds for the MVP race aren’t available at the BetMGM online sportsbook. But Wilson figures to begin as the favorite, though Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark could be right there as her primary challenger.

Who Will Win WNBA MVP in 2026?
I expect A’ja Wilson to open as the betting favorite, but Caitlin Clark will likely be the more popular pick in this market.
Clark was limited to just 13 games in her second season due to injury, leaving little opportunity to build on her 2024 Rookie of the Year campaign. As a rookie, she averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game while finishing fourth in MVP voting.
She has the upside to take a major leap this season and crash an MVP race that’s recently been dominated by Wilson. While Wilson still has the edge as the league’s best player, the Aces could look to ease her workload after the heavy demands of the past few years.
Wilson has finished in the top five in points, rebounds, blocks, and steals in each of the last two seasons — a rare level of all-around dominance. The only other player in league history to hit all four categories in a single season is Yolanda Griffith in 1999. If Wilson’s usage or production dips even slightly, it could open the door for the rest of the field.
Clark, meanwhile, could see massive usage as Indiana’s lead guard. There’s also upside elsewhere: Paige Bueckers could make a big Year 2 jump with the Dallas Wings, while the New York Liberty will feature a legitimate MVP candidate in either Breanna Stewart or Sabrina Ionescu. Alyssa Thomas remains a perennial contender as well.
Napheesa Collier is still chasing her first MVP after back-to-back runner-up finishes, but she won’t debut until later this summer following surgery on both ankles.
