  • The Madrid Open is a major joint tour event in the heart of clay season.
  • The total prize purse for the 2025 Madrid Open is a whopping $18.3 million.

Clay season is building toward its main crescendo in Europe. Typically, that starts with this weekโ€™s Madrid Open, which kicks off a chain of significant tournaments that ends at the French Open.

This year, the Madrid Open is a joint ATP/WTA 1000 event with concurrent 96-player singles draws for both men and women.ย

Add in the doubles draw, and thatโ€™s more than 200 contests over the next fortnight. Expect a whole lot of tennis odds at BetMGM until the tournament finale on May 4.ย

Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek, the top clay tennis players in the world right now, are expected to play as big favorites. Swiatek is the defending WTA champion in Madrid; Alcaraz was denied a threepeat last year by Andrey Rublev, who eliminated him in the quarters before advancing to win the title.ย

Like most joint tournaments, men and women at the Madrid Open receive equal payouts based on how far they advanced in the draw. In 2025, the total singles prize money is โ‚ฌ16,110,770, or roughly $18.3 million.
