  • Shanghai Masters is the biggest tournament in the ATPโ€™s late-season Asian swing.
  • The total prize purse for the 2024 Shanghai Masters is more than $8 million.

The Rolex Shanghai Masters is one of the last major tennis events of the year for players on the ATP menโ€™s tennis tour. It includes a 96-player singles draw with a prize purse north of $8 million.

Yes, the four grand slam tournaments have now concluded for the year, following last monthโ€™s conclusion at the U.S. Open. (Big shoutout to you if you had Jannik Sinner in BetMGMโ€™s U.S. Open tennis odds market.)

However, the menโ€™s tennis calendar also features nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments. These are prestigious, high-profile contests with major prize money.ย

Shanghai is the eighth of nine annual Masters draws. Itโ€™s a popular, well-run tournament that draws many high-level players back to the tour after a break following the U.S. Open.ย

That means this week is a popular time to dive back into tennis lines โ€“ assuming youโ€™re into online sports betting, anyway.ย

For the menโ€™s tour, Shanghai is generally considered the biggest tournament of the late-season Asian swing โ€“ a short burst of tournaments after Flushing Meadows that are hosted by prominent cities in China, Japan, and South Korea.ย

While some players prefer a warm-up the previous week at the Japan Open or China Open, several dozen will exclusively play the larger tournaments like Shanghai in the final weeks of the ATP season.ย

The prize money for the 2024 Shanghai Masters is a whopping $8,995,555. That includes a whopping $1.1 million for the singles champion.ย
