Austin Ekeler Contract: Salary, Cap Hit, Dead Money if Traded

Austin Ekeler signed a four-year, $24.5-million contract in March 2020. He has only one year (2023) remaining on the deal and has requested permission from the Los Angeles Chargers to speak with other teams about a trade, according to ESPN.

Ekeler’s base salary for 2023 is $6.25 million. He has a cap hit of $7.75 million, which includes $1.5 million his $6-million signing bonus from 2020.

As of March 13, Ekeler’s cap hit is the 14th-biggest among NFL running backs.

Austin Ekeler Dead Money

If Ekeler is traded before the 2023 season, the Chargers would take a dead cap hit of only $1.5 million.
