  • The undisputed heavyweight world title fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury leads the list of the best boxing matches coming up.
  • The undisputed light heavyweight world title showdown between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol will finally happen.
  • Undisputed Super Bantamweight Champion Naoya Inoue will defend his belts against Luis Nery in May.

As the new year unfolds, massive boxing fights are set to be witnessed in 2024. The sport’s biggest stars are expected to deliver colossal pay-per-view numbers and enormous fanfare as dream fights and overdue matchups are finally happening. These mega showdowns will continue the resurgence of boxing in the coming months.

But which of the upcoming and confirmed boxing matches have the most hype and publicity? I listed the top three below and why everyone should not miss these fights. The fights below also allow fans to place their bets in online sports betting via the boxing odds.

Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk – May 18

First on the list is the undisputed heavyweight title fight between WBC title holder Tyson Fury and IBF, IBO, WBA, and WBO title holder Oleksandr Usyk on May 18, which will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. After years of failed negotiations, the two camps have finally agreed on the terms to settle their business inside the ring.

It will be a legacy fight for both boxers, as they are touted as the best heavyweight boxers of the current generation because of their undefeated pro records. The winner is likely to be crowned as the premier fighter of the modern era. Whoever wins this match will also be the first undisputed heavyweight champion since the new era of four-belt was established in 2004.

Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol – June 1

Next on the list is the undisputed light heavyweight clash between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol on June 1, which will occur in Saudi Arabia. Beterbiev puts all his three belts on the line and has a perfect 100% finish-rate record, while Bivol will put his WBA title at stake.

This is one of the most important fights in the light heavyweight division because this will be the first time that an undisputed world champion will be crowned during the four-belt era, as Roy Jones was the first man to do so when he won the WBA, WBC, and IBF world titles in 1999. Additionally, Beterbiev and Bivol are undefeated champions, making this fight even more exciting.

Naoya Inoue vs. Luis Nery – May 6

Completing the list of the best boxing matches coming up is the showdown between the reigning undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue and challenger Luis Nery on May 6 in Tokyo, Japan. After unifying all the belts last December, it will be Inoue’s first world title defense of his undisputed title.

Meanwhile, Nery is riding a four-fight win streak which dates back to February 2022. His only professional defeat was courtesy of Brandon Figueroa in May 2021, where he suffered a seventh-round knockout loss.

Inoue is looking to fend off the upset-seeking Nery before he moves again to the 126-pound division or 126-pound weight class to try and become a five-time boxing world champion.
