The transfer portal opens at a few specific times every season, prompting a mass exodus across the college football landscape.ย 

Many fans are often anticipating that date as a key time to look which players โ€“ including those from their favorite team โ€“ might be on the move.ย 

If you need a refresher on how the transfer portal works, you can read through at that link. Otherwise, here are the upcoming dates you need to know for the 2024-25 NCAA Transfer Portal.ย 

When Does the Transfer Portal Open?

The next open date for the college football transfer portal is Monday, Dec. 9. It will stay open through Dec. 28, where it will then close again ahead of the major bowl games and second-round playoff dates.ย 

Different sports have different portal dates. For fall sports other than football, check the NCAA master sheet for transfer windows.ย
