Hader and the Astros agreed to a hefty five-year, $95 million deal in January. The signing secured the back end of Houston’s bullpen, with Hader serving as the closer and Ryan Pressly moving back to the setup role.
Hader has spent seven years in the majors, recording 165 saves and a 2.50 ERA in 349 appearances. Last year, he registered 33 saves and a 1.28 ERA with the San Diego Padres.
With the addition of Hader, the Astros have one of the best bullpens in the league.

Houston’s odds to win the division have gone from +115 to -110 since this MLB betting pick was made.
There isn’t much value on a team that has averaged 100 wins over the last six full campaigns. The Astros will be an MLB playoff odds favorite all season.
Yordan Álvarez is a 2024 AL MVP odds favorite at +900, but winning as a designated hitter is difficult. His +1400 odds to lead the league in home runs are much more appealing.
