  • The Mets are coming off their first NLCS appearance since 2015.
  • I predict New York will finish below its win total (92.5) in 2025.

The New York Mets enter the 2025 season with high expectations following last yearโ€™s trip to the NLCS and the signing of Juan Soto this past offseason.

Soto signed a 15-year, $765 million deal to help establish the Mets as World Series contenders. They havenโ€™t won it all since 1986.

Hereโ€™s a look at the latest MLB lines and my betting prediction for the Mets ahead of the 2025 season:

Mets MLB Odds 2025

Win Total: 92.5
NL East: +200
NL Pennant: +650
World Series: +1200

The Metsโ€™ MLB odds stock is as high as ever.

New Yorkโ€™s win total has climbed 11 games since last season. The Metsโ€™ World Series odds are +1200 after being +5000 this time last year. They are also +200 to win the NL East after having a +1200 division value last offseason.

For comparison, here is where the Mets’ preseason odds have been in recent years:

Mets Depth Chart 2025

According to RosterResource, the Mets will have an improved depth chart in 2025.

Soto slots in at the No. 2 spot after signing his massive contract. The Mets also added Frankie Montas and Clay Holmes in free agency to boost their rotation.

Mets Player to Watch in 2025

Soto will be the reason to tune into the Mets on a regular basis. His presence makes them World Series contenders.

The Mets are the fourth team that Soto will play for in as many years, but heโ€™s consistently been one of the best offensive players in any jersey. Heโ€™s received MVP votes and been an All-Star the last two seasons.

There are several ways to bet on Soto at the BetMGM online sportsbook, including season-long prop odds for home runs, hits, and RBI.

Sotoโ€™s season-long player prop odds:

  • Home runs: 33.5
  • Hits: 154.5
  • RBI: 104.5

Mets 2025 Betting Prediction

Based on the updated MLB betting market, I predict the Mets will finish below their win total (92.5) during the 2025 season.

Betting against the Metsโ€™ win total has often been a profitable strategy. New York has finished below its win total in six of its previous nine seasons. When the Mets have had a preseason win total of 90 or higher, they have finished below it all four times since 2007:

  • 2023: 92.5 win total (74 actual wins)
  • 2021: 90.5 (77)
  • 2009: 90.5 (70)
  • 2008: 93.5 (89)

While I still like the Metsโ€™ chances of contending in the postseason, their path to get there will be much more difficult in the NL East. The Atlanta Braves are due for a bounce-back campaign, and the Philadelphia Phillies arenโ€™t going anywhere.

Iโ€™ll bet against this team winning 92-plus games in 2025.

Prediction: Under 92.5 Wins (-120)
