The Texas Rangers, who have been around since 1972, finally reached the mountaintop with their first championship after defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks in the World Series last season.
But it’s easy to forget the Rangers’ run started from the wild-card spot. They finished second in their division behind the Houston Astros. Texas will aim to propel past Houston in the AL West as it enters 2024 as a strong MLB odds contender.

The Rangers cleared last year’s preseason win total of 81.5, snapping a three-year streak of finishing below their win projection.

The Rangers didn’t make many additions this offseason, but they could have reinforcements coming in other ways.
Pitchers Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer are set to return from injury later in the summer. The same is true for Mahle, who signed a two-year, $22 million deal with Texas in December.
In addition, the Rangers are adding a pair of talented young hitters to their lineup.Â
Evan Carter made an immediate impact after being called up last September, while Wyatt Langford is quickly climbing up the ranks after being selected No. 4 overall in last year’s draft.
Both players are among MLB Rookie of the Year odds favorites this season.

Prediction: Rangers under 89.5 wins (-120)
The Rangers’ win total has dropped one game since this MLB betting pick was made, as bettors prefer to fade the defending champions.
After a quiet offseason, the concerns about Texas’ pitching staff are valid until the rotation is fully healthy. The Rangers ranked 18th in ERA last year.
PECOTA projects 85.9 wins, while FanGraphs forecasts 81.8 victories. Either way, there is some value in this under before chasing the Rangers’ upside later in the year.
