The last time the Detroit Tigers appeared in the World Series was 2012 when they lost in a sweep to the San Francisco Giants. The team’s most recent World Series win was in 1984, when they beat the San Diego Padres.

The Tigers are the oldest continuous one name, one city franchise in the American League, and in that long history, the team has spent their fair share of time near the top of the World Series odds. Still, it’s been over a decade since they were made an appearance in the World Series.

Detroit Tigers World Series History

Since the team’s establishment as a major league franchise in 1901, the Tigers have appeared in 11 World Series (1907, 1908, 1909, 1934, 1935, 1940, 1945, 1968, 1984, 2006, 2012) and won four (1935, 1945, 1968, 1984).
