Each season, the Major League Baseball Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award is given to one outstanding player in each of the American and National Leagues. Since its inception in 1931, the MVP Award has been one of the most prestigious and competitive honors handed out, with players being voted on and ultimately awarded by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA).
The most recent winners of the MVP Award were Aaron Judge (American League MVP) and Paul Goldschmidt (National League MVP) in 2022. Although MVP voting takes place before the playoffs, the results are not announced until after the World Series each year.
