  • The New York Knicks are back to being the betting favorites to win the NBA Cup.
  • The Lakers won the leagueโ€™s first in-season tournament last year.

The NBAโ€™s first attempt at an in-season tournament was a smashing success during the 2023-24 campaign.

Regular-season games in November seemed more meaningful, with players motivated by the prize pool and trophy. The Los Angeles Lakers won the inaugural In-Season Tournament, besting the Indiana Pacers in the championship game in Las Vegas.

The event has been rebranded as the Emirates NBA Cup for 2024. Teams have finished group play and the quarterfinals will take place on Dec. 10 and Dec. 11. The event will culminate with the NBA Cup Championship on Dec. 17.

NBA Cup Odds & Betting Favorites 2024

The New York Knicks enter the quarterfinals as the favorites (+300) to win the 2024 NBA Cup. Eastern Conference teams have dominated the betting market since the odds opened in the offseason.

The Boston Celtics initially led as the favorites, widely regarded as the league’s best team. However, after group play began, the Knicks surged to the top spot. While the Celtics briefly reclaimed their position a week later, the Knicks have since solidified their status as the team to beat.

New York went undefeated in group play, capping their run with a commanding victory over the Orlando Magic. Boasting the leagueโ€™s most potent offense this season, the Knicks have set themselves apart as a serious contender.

Still, the competition in this year’s quarterfinals is fierce. The Oklahoma City Thunder lead the Western Conference, anchored by the NBAโ€™s top defense.

The Dallas Mavericks are hungry for redemption after last yearโ€™s NBA Finals loss, while the Golden State Warriors bring the experience of a dynasty that has claimed multiple championships in the past decade.

In the East, the Milwaukee Bucks have found their stride after a sluggish start, adding another layer of intrigue to an already stacked bracket.

With such a talented field, the NBA Cup is anyone’s to claim. However, entering the quarterfinals, Oklahoma City stands out as a particularly compelling contender.

Prediction: Thunder (+310)
