The NBAโ€™s upcoming offseason could become much more interesting if Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready to move on.

Although Antetokounmpo has two more years left on his contract, he could demand to be traded if he hopes to contend for a championship. The Bucksโ€™ contention window has closed, as they are on the verge of a third consecutive first-round exit and donโ€™t control any of their first-round draft picks until 2031.

If Antetokounmpo is on the move, several teams will be ready to make the Bucks an offer for the two-time MVP.

So, where could Antetokounmpo end up?

Giannis Antetokounmpo Next Team Odds & Favorites

The BetMGM online sportsbook doesnโ€™t have a market for Antetokounmpoโ€™s next team, though itโ€™s worth checking the latest NBA odds if he does demand a trade.

While every team would love to have Antetokounmpo in their uniform, he likely wants to play for a contender. The Bucks would also have to get something out of the deal, meaning theyโ€™d prefer to work with a team with a combination of young assets and draft picks.

As a result, Iโ€™d consider these teams as the favorites to trade for Antetokounmpo:

  • Oklahoma City Thunder
  • San Antonio Spurs
  • Houston Rockets
  • New York Knicks
  • Los Angeles Lakers

If the Thunder or Spurs are legitimately interested, itโ€™s difficult to imagine another team beating their offer.

Oklahoma City could offer Chet Holmgren or Jalen Williams and an endless number of picks to pair Antetokounmpo with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. With two of the top three players in the league, the Thunder would be championship favorites for the next few seasons.

The Spurs could accelerate their championship timeline for Victor Wembanyama by sending Stephon Castle and picks to Milwaukee. This would create a team with incredible length between Antetokounmpo (6-foot-11) and Wembanyama (7-foot-3). Good luck scoring against that.

Speaking of defense, the Rockets had plenty of it on their way to the No. 2 seed. They need a star to carry them in the postseason. They can trade any of their promising young players (Alperen ลžengรผn, Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr.) to land Antetokounmpo and still have a contender around him.

The Lakers canโ€™t be ignored after pulling off the heist for Luka Donฤiฤ‡. Still, they probably canโ€™t enter the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes unless LeBron James chooses not to pick up his player option ($52,627,153) next year.

However, following the blockbuster Donฤiฤ‡ trade, Antetokounmpo created headlines by suggesting more European players should play for big-market teams. In the quote, he wanted Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokiฤ‡ to play for the Knicks.

The Knicks arenโ€™t on the same level as the Boston Celtics or Cleveland Cavaliers. I expect them to be aggressive this offseason to propel them to true contender status in the Eastern Conference.

The Knicks would have a better shot if they hadnโ€™t sent so many picks for Mikal Bridges last summer, but they still have enough assets for a potential package to land Antetokounmpo. It would take the Thunder and Spurs sitting out of the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes, plus heโ€™d have to request to be traded to New York.

However, the Knicks would be my pick to land Antetokounmpo entering the offseason.
