The Washington Wizards posted back-to-back 40-win seasons from 2016-18, a span that included two playoff appearances, one playoff series win against the Hawks, and a memorable Game 7 against the Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Since then, Wizards odds have been a brutal betting market, as the team has mostly been deep in rebuilding mode. They have some talented players and a few big contracts, but that has yet to lead to high-level success.

Highest-Paid Wizards Players

RankPlayerSalary
1Jordan Poole$29.7 Million
2Kyle Kuzma$23.5 Million
3Malcolm Brogdon$22.5 Million
4Richaun Holmes$12.9 Million
5Marvin Bagley III$12.5 Million
6Landry Shamet$11 Million
7Bilal Coulibaly$6.9 Million
8Corey Kispert$5.7 Million
9Johnny Davis$5.3 Million
10Patrick Baldwin Jr.$2.4 Million

Jordan Poole – $29.7 Million

The Wizards acquired Poole from the Golden State Warriors in a July 2023 salary dump. He was second on the team in 2023-24 with 17.4 points per game.

Kyle Kuzma – $23.5 Million

Kuzma, who turns 29 during the 2024 offseason, is the central piece for the Wizards to build around. His 22.2 points per game led the team by a wide margin and his $23.5 million salary is a good deal for his overall talent and production.

Malcolm Brogdon – $22.5 Million

Traded from the Portland Trail Blazers just days ago, Brogdon is talented enough to be a major contributor on a team that badly needs to add skilled professionals. Virginia basketball fans in the DMV certainly won’t mind the chance to watch Brogdon again, either.

The concern, if there is one, is that Brogdon may struggle to stay on the court.

Richaun Holmes – $12.9 Million

Holmes, who turns 31 at the beginning of the 2024-25 season, was sent over from Dallas in February as the counterpiece for Daniel Gafford. He’s currently set to play on a player option and will be a free agent in 2025.

Marvin Bagley III – $12.5 Million

Washington acquired Bagley III in January when it began selling off pieces ahead of the 2024 trade deadline. He, too, will be a free agent after the upcoming season.

Landry Shamet – $11 Million

The veteran guard came to Washington as part of the Chris Paul trade with the Phoenix Suns in June 2023 and is under club control through 2025-26.

Bilal Coulibaly – $6.9 Million

Last year’s No. 7 overall pick played 27 minutes per game and served as one of Washington’s more effective defensive players this past season. At 8.4 points per game, Coulibaly’s offense needs to improve, but for now, he’s likely a piece of the Wizards’  core moving forward.

Corey Kispert – $5.7 Million

The former Gonzaga star is under club control for 2024-25 but could be a restricted free agent next summer if a contract extension doesn’t materialize over the course of the season. He scored 13 points per game on 49% shooting.

Kispert could be a good building block for the future … or a lucrative trade piece with an expiring contract.
