New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson, who just returned after a month-long absence due to injury, remains the betting favorite to win the NBAโs Clutch Player of the Year award.
Brunson is currently listed at -210, indicating a 67.74% probability of winning. His rise in the odds followed several clutch performances in high-profile games, including a standout 39-point effort against the Los Angeles Lakers.
However, an ankle injury sustained in that game kept him sidelined from March 6 to April 6.
As a result, Brunson is third in total clutch points this season, scoring 145 in 118.4 minutes. The last two Clutch Player of the Year winners have led in that category.
Currently, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards leads the league in clutch scoring with 156 points. He soared to the top after I suggested him as a value bet at 55/1, sinking a turnaround 3-pointer in the closing seconds of Saturday’s victory against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Edwards’ clutch performance is a key reason the Wolves are rounding into form at the right time. If Minnesota can avoid the play-in tournament, Edwards has a strong case for this award as a player many compare to Michael Jordan.
