  • The San Antonio Spurs have the No. 8 pick in the NBA Draft.
  • Devin Carter is the betting favorite at +300 to go No. 8 overall.

The San Antonio Spurs are in a great position.

San Antonio has the No. 4 and No. 8 pick in this year’s draft to build around center Victor Wembanyama, who won Rookie of the Year last season.

In my No. 4 overall pick odds prediction, I shared a long-shot bet that makes a lot of sense for the Spurs’ first pick.

With a second bite at the apple, the latest NBA Draft odds at the online sportsbook have the Spurs targeting Devin Carter with the No. 8 overall pick.

Prediction for No. 8 Pick: Devin Carter (+300)

  • Pick originally made at +750 odds on June 20

Of all the picks I have made in the top 10, this one might be my best read of the draft.

I suggested betting Devin Carter to be the No. 8 overall pick last week, even though his odds went from +1200 to +750 since the market opened.

The latest NBA betting odds make Carter the favorite for this draft slot.

Carter, a guard from Providence, just makes too much sense for a Spurs team that needs backcourt help and should lean into their defensive identity.

With Wemby protecting the rim, Carter can be the team’s primary lockdown defender, and he is one of the best at that in this class.

Carter averaged 1.8 steals and one block per game during his final season with Providence last year.

In addition to his defensive prowess, Carter was among the top pick-and-roll ball handlers in college last year. That skill set will also play with Wemby running to the rim.

This is a perfect match at No. 8.

NBA Betting Splits: No. 8 Pick

Carter is the betting favorite in the No. 8 pick market. He has received the most bets at 18.9%.

Tidjane Salaün has earned 60.2% of the handle.
