  • The Charlotte Hornets have the No. 6 pick in the NBA Draft.
  • Dalton Knecht is the betting favorite at -110 to go No. 6 overall.

The Charlotte Hornets plan to continue adding to their young core with their first-round pick in the NBA Draft.

After a 21-61 campaign last year, the Hornets have the No. 6 pick in the draft. If they choose wisely, they could have an exciting, young roster featuring LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and Mark Williams.

The latest NBA Draft odds at the online sportsbook help provide some insight into what the Hornets might do with the sixth pick:

NBA Draft Odds – No. 6 Overall Pick

Donovan Clingan+700
Matas Buzelis+800

Prediction for No. 6 Pick: Donovan Clingan (+700)

  • Pick originally made at +800 odds on June 20

My original No. 1 odds prediction in mid-May was a +1100 flier on UConn center Donovan Clingan.

Now that it’s draft week, that’s becoming much more of a possibility based on recent reporting. His latest NBA odds of being the top pick are +450.

As weird as it might sound, I think Clingan could slide out of the top five if he doesn’t go No. 1 overall. The No. 6 spot makes a lot of sense for Clingan, whether it be to the Hornets or a trade situation.

Bleacher Report’s latest mock draft has Clingan going to the Hornets with the sixth pick.

If that happens, the Hornets would be a fun NBA League Pass team or a popular rebuilding team on NBA 2K next year.

But they need to get this pick right to continue building around the combination of Ball and Miller.

Clingan’s defensive potential inside would make great sense for the Hornets. And I think it’s more likely than these odds indicate.

NBA Betting Splits: No. 6 Pick

Knecht is the betting favorite to be the No. 6 pick, mostly because he’s the biggest liability in the market. He has received 32.4% of the bets and 83.3% of the handle to be the sixth pick.
