The Dallas Mavericks selected Trae Young with the fifth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Here are the four players selected before Young:
- No. 1: Deandre Ayton (Suns)
- No. 2: Marvin Bagley III (Kings)
- No. 3: Luka Dončić (Hawks)
- No. 4: Jaren Jackson Jr. (Grizzlies)
Young was traded to the Hawks for a package that included Dončić.
