South Sudan is new to international competition, but it didnโ€™t take long to make a big splash. It nearly beat the U.S. menโ€™s team in an exhibition prior to the Olympics, then followed it up with an upset win over Puerto Rico in the opening days of the games.

South Sudan will play a rematch against the Americans in Olympic group play. The rematch stands to go down as one of the most heavily watched events of the summer.ย
