Thunder vs. Pacers Prediction: NBA Finals Game 6 Preview

The Oklahoma City Thunder are one win away from a championship when they travel to face the Indiana Pacers at 8:30 p.m. ET on Thursday at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on ABC.

Since moving to Oklahoma City in 2008, the Thunder have never won an NBA championship. The Seattle Supersonics claimed a title in 1979.

Oklahoma City took a 3-2 series lead with its 120-109 win over Indiana on Monday. Jalen Williams scored 40 points, putting himself in the NBA Finals MVP odds conversation.

Based on the updated NBA betting lines, I‘m taking a same-game parlay of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to score 30-plus points and Oklahoma City moneyline (-115) as my Game 6 prediction for the Thunder vs. Pacers matchup in the NBA Finals.

After scoring 31 points in Game 5, SGA became the fourth player in NBA history to record at least 15 playoff games of 30-plus points in a single postseason. He joined Michael Jordan (16 in 1992), Hakeem Olajuwon (16 in 1995), and Kobe Bryant (15 in 2009).

Gilgeous-Alexander, who won the regular-season MVP award, can match the record with his 16th 30-point game to help the Thunder clinch the title. That’s what I expect to happen in a game that should help SGA lock up the NBA Finals MVP trophy.

With Tyrese Haliburton getting banged up on Monday, I’d be surprised if the Pacers were able to push the Thunder to a Game 7. That’s why I see value in their current spread and the moneyline odds.

However, this same-game parlay is my favorite way of having action on Game 6 in what should be the final night of the NBA season.
