- Get expert betting predictions and analysis for Timberwolves vs. Lakers.
- Minnesota is -500 to win this Round 1 matchup.
- The Lakers are 5.5-point favorites for Wednesdayโs Game 5.
The Los Angeles Lakers hope to avoid elimination in Game 5, which will be broadcast on TNT at 10 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Crypto.com Arena.
The Lakers might have emptied the tank in Sundayโs Game 4, becoming the first team in postseason history not to make a substitution for the entire second half. The Timberwolves took advantage of an exhausted Lakers team, making all the plays down the stretch in their 116-113 win.
Here’s a look at the latest NBA odds for the Timberwolves vs. Lakers and my prediction ahead of Wednesdayโs Game 5:
Timberwolves vs. Lakers Odds: Game 5
- Timberwolves spread: +5.5
- Lakers spread: -5.5

Timberwolves vs. Lakers Prediction: Game 5 Best Bet
Based on the updated NBA betting market, Iโm taking over 10.5 points (-125) for Minnesota center Naz Reid as my best bet for Game 5 of this Round 1 matchup.
Iโve been fading Rudy Gobertโs props for much of this series, but the market has caught up to his ineffectiveness in this matchup. Gobertโs points and rebounds prop was as high as 20.5 in Game 3 when I recommended the under, but dropped to 8.5 ahead of Sundayโs Game 4.
While that prop is up to 16.5 for Wednesday, backing Reid is the better angle because he gets more minutes when Gobert is on the bench. Reid is averaging 13.8 points in 24.8 minutes per game during this series.
The Lakers will be locked in with their season on the line, but Chris Finch can lean into the Timberwolvesโ offense by playing Reid more over Gobert. Thatโs the best way to end this series early, given the Lakersโ defensive issues when there isnโt a non-shooter on the floor.
Iโm backing Reid to clear this prop for a fourth time this series.
Game 5 prediction: Naz Reid over 10.5 points (-125)
