To build the 68-team NCAA Tournament field each year, the 10-person selection committee considers, among other things, quadrant records. Since the NET Rankings were first introduced in 2018, the committee chair โ€“ and those familiar with the process โ€“ have repeatedly stressed the importance of Quadrant 1 wins and the avoidance of Quadrant 4 losses.
