Atlanta was scheduled to host the 2020 Final Four before the entire 2020 NCAA Tournament was canceled four days before Selection Sunday (COVID-19). It would’ve been the city’s fourth time hosting the national semifinals and national championship since 2002, and the fifth time overall.

With future Final Four sites already decided through 2026, Atlanta’s fifth Final Four would have to wait until at least 2027.

But after an announcement on Nov. 22, 2022, the city will have to wait until at least 2031 to host again. Atlanta didn’t receive one of the four bids (2027-30), which instead went to Detroit, Las Vegas, Indianapolis, and Dallas.
