- No. 7 Houston will face No. 12 Kansas at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
- The Cougars have won 11 in a row, starting 7-0 in Big 12 play.
The No. 7 Houston Cougars (15-3, 7-0 Big 12) head to Lawrence to face the No. 12 Kansas Jayhawks (14-4, 5-2) at 6:30 p.m. ET on Saturday in Allen Fieldhouse.
The Cougars have the second-longest active win streak in the country, having won 11 in a row since their overtime loss to San Diego State on Nov. 30. The Jayhawks have won back-to-back games since their 74-57 defeat at Iowa State.
Here is a look at the latest Houston vs. Kansas college basketball odds and my prediction for Saturdayโs showdown:
Houston vs. Kansas College Basketball Odds, Jan. 25
- Projected point spread: Houston -1
- Projected total: 127
While odds for this matchup arenโt yet available at the BetMGM online sportsbook, KenPom projects a 64-63 victory for the Cougars. That would make Houston a one-point road favorite with an over/under of 127.
Iโll update these odds when they become available, but letโs use this projection as a guideline for what to expect when the market is released.
Houston vs. Kansas Prediction – Saturday, Jan. 25
Based on KenPomโs projection, my Houston vs. Kansas college basketball prediction would be to lay the points with the Cougars in a game they should flex their muscles as the team to beat in the Big 12.
It will be interesting to see what this line opens at this weekend. The Jayhawks were 1.5-point home underdogs to the Cougars last year before their 79-65 victory, in which Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson was baffled at the betting line in his postgame press conference.
But things seem different this year.
The Jayhawks have limitations on the offensive end, ranking 32nd in adjusted offensive efficiency. Spacing has been an issue all year, even since Shakeel Moore recently cracked the starting lineup.
Houston leads the country in adjusted defensive efficiency. On Wednesday, the Cougars held Utah to 36 points.
This matchup will be decided between KUโs offense and Houstonโs defense. The Cougars have too big of an edge in that battle.
Prediction: Houston -1
