In mid-February 2025, the Jets announced they would move forward without Aaron Rodgers.
“Last week we met with Aaron and shared that our intention was to move in a different direction at quarterback,” said head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey in a statement released by the team. “It was important to have this discussion now to provide clarity and enable each of us the proper time to plan for our respective futures. We want to thank him for the leadership, passion, and dedication he brought to the organization and wish him success moving forward.”
The 41-year-old is one of the oldest players in the NFL, and it appears that he will play next season.
So, who could that be for?
Aaron Rodgers Next Team Odds & Favorites
The BetMGMย online sportsbook doesnโt offer NFL odds on Aaron Rodgers’ next team, but a few teams stand out as a potential landing spot for the veteran quarterback:
- Steelers
- Raiders
- Colts
- 49ers
Of those teams, the Steelers and Raiders appear to be the most likely. The Colts have Anthony Richardson, but it wasn’t a smooth 2024 season. And as for the 49ers, Rodgers is from the Bay Area, so a return home cannot 100% be ruled out.
Aaron Rodgers Next Team Prediction: Raiders Should Sign Veteran QB
I predict the Raiders will sign Rodgers in free agency.
The Raiders haven’t had stable quarterback play in years, and while Rodgers isn’t what he was in his prime, he’s still better than the players they have rolled out at that position of late.
Las Vegas also feels like an organization looking to make another splash this offseason after landing Pete Carroll as its next head coach. It’s also worth noting minority owner Tom Brady has a solid relationship with Rodgers and could potentially lure him to Vegas.
Aaron Rodgers Projected Contract
Given his age, Rodgers will likely be getting a short contract of one or two years.
Two years and $50 million seems reasonable, and the Raiders have the second-most cap space in the league entering the 2025 season, so that should not be an issue.
