As part of my ongoing offseason investigation into various NFL players and teams, I took a look at some of Kirk Cousins’ career betting numbers and ATS stats.

The results affirm some of the basic things that knowledgeable gamblers understand about how markets work. You’ll want to tuck this away for the upcoming season, when week-to-week NFL betting lines start appearing once again.

Kirk Cousins Career ATS Record

Kirk Cousins has a career ATS record of 70-70-2.

Since becoming a primary starter in 2015, Cousins has an ATS record of 65-65-2. Prior to that, he had earned only spot starts for the Washington Redskins while filling in for Robert Griffin III.

Kirk Cousins ATS Record With Minnesota Vikings

Since becoming the starting quarterback for the Vikings in 2018, Kirk Cousins has an ATS record of 39-44-2.

Kirk Cousins Home ATS Record

Kirk Cousins has a career home ATS record of 33-37-1.

Kirk Cousins Road ATS Record

Kirk Cousins has a career road ATS record of 37-33-1.

Kirk Cousins Vikings Odds

One clear trend here – which I mentioned in my analysis of Kirk Cousins’ primetime record – is that Cousins’ general mediocrity interacts with NFL betting narratives in powerful ways.

As a general rule, we know that home-field advantage is vastly overrated in the NFL these days. In fact, home teams are some of the most overrated NFL teams to bet on, despite their enduring popularity with bettors.

Cousins is overrated by the market at home, and so his sub-.500 home ATS record is not surprising.

On the other hand, Cousins is seen as a quarterback who is not necessarily good enough to win (allegedly) tough road games, so the market goes soft on him. Thus, Cousins actually has a winning ATS record on the road.
