The last Super Bowl played in the Miami metropolitan area was Super Bowl LIV in February 2020. The last Super Bowl played in the city of Miami was Super Bowl XIII in January 1979.

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers, 31-20, in Super Bowl LIV at Hard Rock Stadium on Feb. 2, 2020. It was the sixth game played at the stadium in Miami Gardens and the 11th game played in the metro.

Four decades earlier, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl XIII at the Orange Bowl on Jan. 21, 1979. The stadium didn’t host the game again before it was demolished in 2008.
