Mac Jones’ base salary is $2,076,941 for 2023, the third year of a four-year contract he signed after being selected by the New England Patriots in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Mac Jones Contract

Mac Jones signed a fully guaranteed four-year deal in July 2021 worth $15,586,352. It included a $8,695,528 signing bonus.

Jones’ annual base salary began at $660,000 in 2021, increased to $1,368,471 in 2022, and will be over $2 million in 2023. His 2023 cap hit will be $4,250,823.

He’ll be eligible for an extension after the 2023 season ends. And the Patriots will have until May 2024 to pick up his fifth-year option for the 2025 season.

Mac Jones Dead Money if Traded

If traded before the 2023 season, Mac Jones would leave behind more than $9 million in dead money.

โ€œI think [the Patriots] would [consider trading Jones],โ€ Albert Breer said last week on 98.5 The Sports Hub. โ€œInternally, I donโ€™t know if they see this massive gap between Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe.

“Iโ€™m not saying they think Baileyโ€™s as good as Mac, but there was some element of Bailey doing what he was coached to do last year that I think gave Bailey the edge to some degree for a little while there.”

If Jones is traded in 2024, he’d leave behind a dead cap hit of approximately $5 million.
