  • The Steelers’ 2026 win total is set at 8.5 wins at BetMGM.
  • Pittsburgh won 22 of 30 over the last three years by a possession or less.
  • I predict the Steelers finish Under 8.5 Wins (-135) due to a reliance on turnovers.

For the 2026 NFL season, the Steelers win total sits at 8.5 wins at the BetMGM online sportsbook.

Pittsburgh begins 2026 with a new head coach: Mike McCarthy. He replaced Mike Tomlin after the Steelers won the AFC North but lost in the wild-card round.

Aaron Rodgers returns as the starting quarterback featuring a revamped offense. Rico Dowdle replaces Kenneth Gainwell while Michael Pittman Jr. arrives via trade.

Here’s a look at the NFL odds for Pittsburgh’s 2026 win total and my Steelers win total prediction.

Steelers Win Total Odds

The Steelers’ season win total is set at 8.5 games.

Over 8.5 @ +115 Under 8.5 @ -140

Oddsmakers price the Steelers as more likely to win eight or fewer games. Currently, Pittsburgh is +115 to finish over 8.5 wins and -140 to finish under 8.5 victories.

Here are the 2026 NFL win totals for all AFC North teams:

Steelers Win Total Prediction 2026

Based on Mike Tomlin’s departure and the Steelers’ complete reliance on turnovers to win games, I predict the Steelers finish Under 8.5 Wins (-135).

Will Mike Tomlin’s voodoo magic remain in absentia? That question will – in all likelihood – determine the outcome of Pittsburgh’s season win total.

A lot of focus is on the quarterback situation. Truthfully, I don’t really think it matters.

The offensive line offers great concern after Isaac Seumalo signed with Arizona. It leaves behind a line that, outside of Zach Frazier, lacks competency.

Michael Pittman Jr. offers a nice complement to D.K. Metcalf. However, it won’t really matter if the line fails to hold up.

Losing Kenneth Gainwell sneakily harms Pittsburgh as well. Rico Dowdle arrives to replace him, but I’m not sure Jaylen Warren offers the receiving upside that Gainwell displayed last year.

More concerning for the Steelers is the expensive and aging defense that has consistently regressed with each season.

Here are Pittsburgh’s defensive DVOA rankings over the last four years, starting in 2021: 17th, 12th, 6th, 8th, 11th, per FTN Fantasy.

Pittsburgh forced 27, 33 and 27 turnovers in the last three seasons. When you evaluate the defense outside those turnovers, it leaves a bleak picture.

Here are Pittsburgh’s rankings in EPA per play, dropback EPA and rushing EPA on plays excluding turnovers since ‘23:

  • 2023: 12th, 13th, 14th
  • 2024: 18th, 19th, 18th
  • 2025: 27th, 20th, 27th

Most concerning about those outputs? Pittsburgh played its easiest set of opposing offenses in 2025. And yet….the metrics still took a step back.

If you’re a Steelers optimist next year, you’re likely thinking the defense can turn around in a hurry against an easy schedule.

Pittsburgh’s 2026 opponents averaged a -3.3% offensive DVOA rating in 2025. Over the last two seasons, their opponents averaged a -2.5% offensive DVOA rating.

Sampling Cleveland four times in the latter sample will make that schedule look easier. Plus, the Steelers face the league’s 19th-hardest schedule by opponent win totals next year.

Over the last three years, Pittsburgh won 22 of 30 games by a possession or less. All that pent-up regression potential leads me to predict under 8.5 victories in 2026.
