- Three teams have never selected first overall at the NFL Draft.
- Two of those three have had the second overall pick at least once.
- This year, the Titans own the first overall pick for the first time since 1983.
Since the inception of the NFL Draft, three teams have achieved the rare feat of never picking first overall.
Those teams are the Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks.
Baltimore, prior to relocating and becoming the Ravens, held the first overall pick in 1954, as the Cleveland Browns. However, not since changing cities have the Ravens picked first.
As for the Ravens, Baltimore’s highest selection came with the fourth overall pick. That happened twice in franchise history in 1996 and 1997.
Both the Broncos and Seahawks came close to selecting first overall. However, the highest draft position for each of those teams is second overall.
Denver picked second overall at the 2011 NFL Draft (Von Miller) and has picked inside the top-10 twice since 2018.
Seattle earned the second overall pick all the way back in 1976 (Steve Niehaus). Since 2022, Seattle has picked twice inside the first nine selections.
This year’s NFL Draft marks the third time the Tennessee Titans own the first overall pick. However, not since the franchise was called the Houston Oilers has it picked first overall.
