- Chelsea is predicted to be a -0.5-goal home favorite against Tottenham.
- The home team has won each of Chelsea's last eight EPL matches.
- My Chelsea vs. Tottenham prediction is the total over 3.5 goals.
The marquee midweek EPL fixture pits Chelsea against Tottenham in a London derby.ย
Chelsea arrive at Thursdayโs fixture off a 1-0 defeat at Arsenal in their last league fixture. Still, recent positive results see Chelsea sit fourth in the league table.ย
Tottenham also fell 2-0 as road dogs to Fulham in their last league fixture. That marks three fixtures winless for Tottenham, which lost to Chelsea 4-3 earlier this year.ย
Check out the Premier League odds and my Chelsea vs. Tottenham prediction.ย

Chelsea vs. Tottenham Prediction
If both teams return critical attackers to their lineups on Thursday, my Chelsea vs. Tottenham prediction is the Total Over 3.5 Goals (-105).ย
Chelseaโs last match saw them operate without all of Nicholas Jackson, Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke. For this bet to stand, all three need to feature for Enzo Maresca.ย
If they do, it bolsters Chelseaโs chances of exposing a weak Tottenham defense.ย
Of slight concern is that Spurs are starting to find health on defense. However, Chelsea blitzed them for 2.41 post-shot xG (excluding penalties) in the last meeting at full health.ย
Tottenhamโs last road match saw Ange Postecoglouโs side surrender 1.76 post-shot xG to Fulham, a side eight spots behind Chelsea (second) in post-shot xG.
Plus, Chelsea created 2.2 xG and five big chances in their last meeting at Stamford Bridge.ย
That said, bettors should also expect goals from Tottenham.ย
Tottenham created 2.03 post-shot xG, 2.9 expected goals, and six big chances earlier this season against Chelsea, per fotmob.com.ย
Thereโs also a chance Dejan Kulusevski returns from injury, which helps the Tottenham attack.ย
For all of Chelseaโs success this season, they remain ninth in post-shot xG allowed. Conversely, Tottenham outrank only four teams in that category.ย
This fixture also matches a historically profitable system.
Since last season, matches featuring a total of 3.5 goals are 19-7 to the over, assuming two factors:
- The road teamโs average number of goals scored falls between 1.5 and 1.9
- The road teamโs average number of goals allowed falls between 1.2 and 1.5
Chelsea matched that system once earlier this season and played to a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth. As a result, I like goals on Thursday at Stamford Bridge.ย
