One of the greatest upsets in UFC history was engineered by Sean Strickland (28-5) after beating Israel Adesanya (24-3) in the main event of UFC 293 inside the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia. Strickland defied the UFC odds against him heading into the fight as he was tagged the overwhelming betting underdog.

But “Tarzan” executed his fight plan well and made “The Last Stylebender” uncomfortable throughout the match by putting pressure constantly and pouncing on his patented one-two punch combination. Strickland also used a very tight defense to neutralize the punches and kicks from Adesanya. It was a monumental and outstanding victory overall.
Because of this incredible performance, Strickland bagged an additional $50,000 to his payout as he was awarded the Performance of the Night award. The other fighter who received the same recognition was Justin Tafa, who TKO’ed Austen Lane in the opening round of their heavyweight clash. Rounding out the additional $50K recipients were Manel Kape and Felipe dos Santos for their Fight of the Night honor.
