  • A’ja Wilson is the betting favorite to lead the league in scoring in 2025.
  • Wilson set the scoring record (26.9 points per game) last year.

After setting a WNBA record for scoring average last year, Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson enters 2025 as the betting favorite to lead the league in points per game again.

Wilson averaged 26.9 points per game during an MVP season in 2024. It was over four points higher than her previous career-best mark when she averaged 22.8 points per game in 2023.

The latest WNBA odds expect Wilson to replicate that performance, as she’s a -120 favorite to lead the league in points per game at the BetMGM online sportsbook.

Wilson deserves to be the betting favorite to lead the WNBA in scoring in 2025. Her -120 odds give her an implied probability of 54.55%.

The 6-foot-4 center is the best player in the league. She averaged a career-high 19.6 field goal attempts per contest in 38 games last year, knocking down 10.1 field goals per game on 51.8% shooting.

Wilson bested the field by an average of more than four points per game, with Arike Ogunbowale finishing second in this category at 22.2 points per outing.

However, paying -120 odds on Wilson repeating as the league’s scoring champion is difficult. A player hasn’t led the WNBA in points per game in back-to-back seasons since Diana Taurasi in 2010 and 2011.

Wilson also has a new teammate, Jewell Loyd, who will command a high usage. Loyd ranked sixth with an average of 19.7 points per game in 2024 after pacing the league with 24.7 points per contest in 2023.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (+300) will be a popular candidate after finishing seventh with an average of 19.2 points per game in the rookie season. But she also has multiple teammates (Kelsey Mitchell, DeWanna Bonner, Aliyah Boston) who finished in the top 26 in scoring last year.

Assuming Wilson regresses, Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier would be my favorite option in this market. Her +1100 odds to pace the league in points per game are much more appealing than her MVP price (+325).

Collier ranked fifth in the league with an average of 20.4 points per contest in 2024. Coming off last year’s WNBA Finals loss, I could see the Lynx playing more through her, setting the stage for a special season for Collier and Co.

Prediction: Napheesa Collier (+1100)
