The women’s tour, by contrast, wastes little time. The first WTA 1000 event is held at Doha in mid-February, stylized as the Qatar TotalEnergies Open or simply the Qatar Ladies Open. It draws many of the top contenders from Melbourne for another major tournament draw.
While Australian Open singles champion Madison Keys is taking some time off to enjoy her first Grand Slam victory, many other high-level contenders are squaring off in Doha. That includes Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, and others.
