  • The Munich Open is the German alternative to playing in Barcelona this week.
  • The total prize purse for the 2025 Munich Open is more than $2.8 million.

The ATP is in a natural lull this week, stuck between last weekโ€™s 1,000-point contest in Monte Carlo and next weekโ€™s large tournament in Madrid.

Many players prefer to play the Barcelona Open, since theyโ€™ll be in Spain next week anyway for the 96-player singles draw and huge cash prize. But Barca isnโ€™t the only European city hosting a significant tournament this week, in the middle of clay season.ย

Like Barcelona, Munichโ€™s BMW Open has 500 points and a sizable prize purse up for grabs. The draw includes world No. 3 Alexander Zverev, playing on home soil for the first time since Septemberโ€™s indoor tournament in Berlin.ย

Fellow German national Jan-Lennard Struff is the reigning 2024 Munich champion, though he lost to No. 5 seed Francisco Cerundolo in the first round of this yearโ€™s tournament.ย

Other Germans in the main draw include lucky loser Diego Dedura-Palomero and wildcards Justin Engel, Yannick Hanfmann, and Daniel Altmaier.ย

American Ben Shelton, who is playing as the No. 2 seed, is expected to be one of the primary challengers to Zverev.ย

You can check BetMGMโ€™s tennis betting odds market for more on the market expectations.ย

Below, youโ€™ll find the prize money available in Munich this week. That cash amount has received a heavy upgrade this year after the Munich Open was upgraded from a 250-point tour stop to a 500-point event.ย
