  • This weekend, an all-British heavyweight bout between Joe Joyce and Derek Chisora goes down.
  • Joyce and Chisora will throw hands inside the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom.
  • Joyce is the -400 betting favorite, and Chisora is the +300 betting underdog.

A top-class heavyweight clash will headline the boxing event this weekend inside the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom, as former WBO Interim World Heavyweight champion Joe Joyce faces the former multiple-time heavyweight world title challenger Derek Chisora in an all-British fight.

With a 94% TKO/KO rate and only two losses in his professional record, Joyce heads into the bout as a substantial betting favorite with -400 boxing odds. Meanwhile, Chisora is the overwhelming +300 underdog mainly because of his 13 losses and much lower finish rate.

Joe Joyce Recent Fight Results

Joyce was a decorated amateur boxer who won several tournaments worldwide before entering the professional ranks in 2017. He won all 15 of his pro fights and collected various minor titles, such as the Commonwealth Boxing Council Heavyweight title, WBA Gold World Heavyweight title, BBBofC British Heavyweight title, EBU European Heavyweight title, WBC Silver Heavyweight title, and WBO International Heavyweight title.

In April 2023, Joyce suffered his first career defeat at the hands of Zhilei Zhang with a sixth-round TKO loss to give up the WBO Interim World Heavyweight title. Five months later, they had a rematch, but he again was knocked out, this time in the third round of their second meeting. The “Juggernaut” bounced back from these back-to-back losses and beat Kash Ali in April via a 10th-round knockout.

Derek Chisora Recent Fight Results

Like Joyce, Chisora was a decorated amateur boxer who won several tournaments before becoming a professional. He made his debut in February 2007 and TKO’d Istvรกn Kecskรฉs. Since this successful first fight in the pro ranks, Chisora experienced an up-and-down career.

He won multiple minor titles like the BBBofC British Heavyweight title, Commonwealth Heavyweight title, WBO International Heavyweight title, EBU European Heavyweight title, WBA International Heavyweight title, and the WBO Intercontinental Heavyweight title.

Known as the “War,” he earned multiple world title opportunities, but was defeated by champions like Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury, and Joseph Parker. Chisora is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Gerald Washington in August to secure his 34th career win.

Joe Joyce vs. Derek Chisora: Fight Analysis

The tale of the tape of this upcoming match between Joyce and Chisora favors the former because he’ll enjoy two years of youth, 5 inches of height, and 6 inches of reach advantages against the latter. Additionally, Joyce has a higher finish rate of 94% compared to Chisora’s 68%.

In terms of fighting style, both take an orthodox stance and love to march forward to pressure their opponents into fighting on their back foot because they have one-punch knockout power. They also utilize their power jab to bully their opposition even further, as they come in significant volume.

Considering all these factors, this fight will be determined by who lands a clean punch first. The power and timing of Joyce and Chisora will be showcased, and their respective chins’ toughness will be tested once more. Another crucial factor to consider in the match is their age.

Chisora is already 40 years old and has been competing at a high level since 2007, which means his body has accumulated wear and tear in 47 bouts. On the other hand, Joyce is considered a young 38-year-old because he’s only fought 18 professional fights and is only seven years into his career.

Chisora’s explosiveness, speed, and reflexes have visibly and significantly slowed down in his last six fights, and I believe that Joyce will take full advantage of this. Add the fact that he is the longer and taller fighter, and it could be a comfortable and dominant victory for him. If this prediction pans out, I think that Chisora should seriously consider hanging up the gloves.
