Georgia would be the No. 1 seed in the 2023 College Football Playoff if the season ended today.
College Football Playoff Bracket
Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, and Florida State would make the College Football Playoff if the four-team field was selected using the Week 8 AP Top 25:
- Georgia
- Michigan
- Ohio State
- Florida State
The first CFP Rankings will be released on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Sugar Bowl
Monday, Jan. 1 – 5 p.m. ET
(1) Georgia vs. (4) Florida State
As the No. 1 seed, Georgia would select the semifinal location, as they did with the Peach Bowl last year.
Rose Bowl
Monday, Jan. 1 – 8:45 p.m. ET
(2) Michigan vs. (3) Ohio State
This would be the first semifinal in CFP history between conference foes. Michigan and Ohio State have never met in the postseason.
When Is the College Football Playoff Expanding?
The College Football Playoff is expanding to 12 teams for the 2024 season.
The field will include the six highest-ranked conference champions and the next six highest-ranked teams. The four highest-ranked conference champions receive a first-round bye.
The remaining eight teams will play a first-round game at the site of the higher-ranked team:
- No. 12 at No. 5
- No. 11 at No. 6
- No. 10 at No. 7
- No. 9 at No. 8
The winners will advance to quarterfinals played at bowl sites. In 2024, the Fiesta Bowl, Peach Bowl, Rose Bowl, and Sugar Bowl will host quarterfinals. The remaining CFP bowls — the Orange Bowl and Cotton Bowl — will each host a semifinal game, which are followed by the national championship.
Teams aren’t reseeded after each round.
