For the first time in MLB history, the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets will meet in the postseason when they face off in this year’s NLDS.
The National League East rivalry will compete in a best-of-five series for the right to advance to the NLCS.
The Phillies, the No. 2 seed and fresh off a bye, enter as -185 favorites to win the series. They have reached the NLCS in each of the last two postseasons.
New York is coming off a dramatic win in Game 3 of the NL Wild Card series, needing a ninth-inning home run from Pete Alonso to defeat the Milwaukee Brewers. The Mets won seven of the 13 matchups against the Phillies this season.

Mets vs. Phillies NLDS Prediction, Game 1 Best Bet
Best bet: Pete Alonso Under 0.5 Hits (+110)
This is a tough series to get a read on before Game 1. The Phillies are the better team on paper, but they weren’t quite as impressive down the stretch.
The Mets, meanwhile, have some team-of-destiny vibes with their play of late.
As a result, I’ll target the player prop market game by game until the series props have more value.
Alonso came through with the biggest home run of his career to lift the Mets past the Brewers on Thursday, becoming the first major league player to hit a go-ahead homer while trailing in the ninth inning or later of a winner-take-all postseason game.
But that came after Alonso was 1-for-11 in the series. It marked his first home run since Sept. 19.
Perhaps that was the swing to help Alonso get back on track, though a matchup against Zack Wheeler looms. Alonso has an expected batting average of .210 in 38 career plate appearances against Wheeler. He only has two extra-base hits off Philadelphia’s ace.
I’ll take the plus-money price to bet against Alonso recording a hit on Saturday.
