The MLB season is now officially underway, and there are tons of bettors to choose from on the online sportsbook.

Here are three MLB betting trends to consider this week.

Spread Underdogs

After covering at a 53.9% clip during 2022, underdogs are covering in 52.5% of games this year.

The Atlanta Braves are 3-0 ATS as a dog this season, with an underdog ROI of 56.8%. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers are both 0-1 ATS as underdogs.

Athletics Over/Under

In 2023, teams are hitting the over at a 50.6% clip, which is an increase from last season when the over won in just 48.1% of games.

After going over at a 46.8% clip in 2022 and 47.7% in 2021, the Oakland Athletics have hit the over in 69% of their first 29 games this season. The team has an over ROI of 30.5%, up from -10.3% last season.

Rays as Favorite

In 2022, the Tampa Bay Rays covered the spread as favorites in 39.8% of games. Through their first 29 games of 2023, the team is covering as favorites at a 67.9% clip.

The Rays’ ROI as a favorite is 34%, a huge increase from -10.1% last season.
