Padres vs. Dodgers NLDS Prediction, Game 1 Best Bet
Best bet: Padres Moneyline (+120)
Things couldn’t have broken much better for the Padres.
They faced a tired and depleted Atlanta Braves team in the Wild Card series, making quick work of them in a 2-0 sweep. It meant San Diego got to save Dylan Cease for the start in Saturday’s Game 1 against the Dodgers.
The Padres traded for Cease right before the start of the season for this very moment. Cease went 14-11 with a 3.47 ERA in 33 starts this year. He held the Dodgers to four runs on eight hits in his two starts against them.
I’ve been high on the Padres since before the season, so it’s no surprise that I see value in backing Cease in Game 1.
If the Padres pull off the upset, that could create an opportunity to bet the Dodgers’ series price after the opener, particularly if San Diego starter Joe Musgrove’s elbow tightness prevents him from pitching in this round.
