MLB teams continue to call up their prospects much earlier, so it’s important to keep track of the sport’s promising young players.

The youngest player in MLB history was Joe Nuxhall, who debuted in the MLB for the Cincinnati Reds on June 10, 1944, at 15 years of age. Nuxhallโ€™s extremely early major league selection was the exception rather than the rule, but there are still plenty of players proving that sometimes career success comes sooner rather than later.

Who is the Youngest Player in MLB?

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio is the youngest player in MLB, completing an impressive rookie campaign in the majors before being old enough to buy an adult beverage.

Chourio, who turned 21 on March 11, finished third in NL Rookie of the Year voting last year. He hit .275 with 21 home runs, 79 RBIs, and 22 stolen bases during his debut campaign.

Chourio will continue to be one of the youngest players in the majors during the 2025 season.
