Warriors vs. Timberwolves Prediction: Round 2 Playoffs Preview

  • Get expert betting predictions and analysis for Warriors vs. Timberwolves.
  • Minnesota is -180 to win this Round 2 matchup.
  • The Timberwolves are 6.5-point favorites in Tuesdayโ€™s Game 1.

Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves will get a chance to eliminate another legend when they face the Golden State Warriors in Round 2. Game 1 is set for 9:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday at the Target Center on TNT.

The Wolves are coming off a 4-1 series win against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the opening round. This comes after Minnesota pushed past the Phoenix Suns (Kevin Durant) and the Denver Nuggets (Nikola Jokic) during last yearโ€™s conference finals run.

The Warriors, who are coming off a seven-game rock fight with the Houston Rockets, enter this Round 2 matchup as +150 underdogs. It marks the first time they have been underdogs to win a playoff series since 2014, when they lost to the Los Angeles Clippers in seven games.

Here’s a look at the latest NBA betting lines for the Warriors vs. Timberwolves and my prediction ahead of Tuesdayโ€™s Game 1:

Warriors vs. Timberwolves Prediction: Series Best Bet

According to the updated NBA betting market, Iโ€™m taking Minnesotaโ€™s series spread (-1.5) as my best bet for the Warriors vs. Timberwolves Round 2 matchup.

My initial instinct was to take Minnesota to win Game 1 and the series due to the schedule advantage ahead of Tuesdayโ€™s opener. But the market has baked that in already, as the Wolves are -120 to win Game 1 and the series compared to their Round 2 price of -180.

However, itโ€™s worth acknowledging how exhausted the Warriors must be entering this matchup. They deliberately punted on Game 5 in the opening round because they donโ€™t have much left in the tank.

Curry is dealing with a hand injury, while Jimmy Butler took a hard fall last round and had to miss a game. Draymond Green continues to rack up flagrant and technical fouls, so heโ€™s dangerously close to a suspension.

I honestly feel like Iโ€™m giving Curry and Co. respect by backing the Wolves to win in six games or better with this spread. There is a chance this series could be over in four or five, if Minnesota plays as well as it did in Round 1.

Series prediction: Timberwolves series spread -1.5 (+125)
