What Does -10 Spread Mean in NBA Betting?

If a team is -10 in NBA betting at BetMGM, they’re a favorite of 10 points. Their opponent, the underdog, would be +10.

To cover the spread (-10), the favorite must win the game by at least 11 points.

To cover the spread (+10), the underdog must lose by nine points or less or win the game.

Overtime is included in the final score that determines the spread outcome.

Example of -10 Spread in NBA Betting

Los Angeles Lakers (-10, -105) at Utah Jazz (+10, -115)

The Lakers are the road favorite (-10), and the Jazz are the home underdog (+10).

If Los Angeles wins by at least 11 points, they cover. If Utah loses by nine points or less or wins the game, they cover the spread.

Here are some score examples:

Lakers 114, Jazz 103: The Lakers win by 11 points and cover the spread.

Lakers 130, Jazz 120: The Lakers win by 10 points and push.

Jazz 132, Lakers 128: The Jazz win by four points and cover the spread.

Payout for -10 Spread in NFL Betting

Milwaukee Bucks (-10, -110) at Toronto Raptors (+10, -110)

The odds beside the spread determine the payout. In this Bucks-Raptors example, the odds for each spread (-10 and +10) are -110. The odds can vary for games; they could be +115, +100, -105, -110, or another value.

To calculate the potential payout, add a spread bet to your BetMGM Bet Slip.

With -110 odds, a winning bet with a $50 stake would return $95.45 (including stake).

At -105 odds, a winning bet with a $50 stake would return $97.62 (including stake).

If a spread bet pushes, the stake is refunded.
