  • No. 8 Tennessee will host No. 4 Florida at noon ET on Saturday (ESPN).
  • I predict the Gators to cover the spread on the road.

College basketball fans will get a top 10 showdown this weekend when No. 8 Tennessee (17-4, 4-4 SEC) hosts No. 4 Florida (18-2, 5-2) at noon ET on Saturday in Thompson Boling Arena.

The Volunteers are desperate for a signature win after losing three of their past four games. This past week, they dropped back-to-back contests to Auburn and Kentucky.

Florida, meanwhile, has won three in a row following its 89-59 shellacking of Georgia last weekend.

Here is a look at the latest Florida vs. Tennessee college basketball odds and my prediction for Saturdayโ€™s showdown:

Florida vs. Tennessee College Basketball Odds, Feb. 1

  • Projected point spread: Tennessee -3
  • Projected total: 139

While odds for this matchup arenโ€™t yet available at the BetMGM online sportsbook, KenPom projects a 71-68 victory for the Volunteers. That would make Tennessee a three-point home favorite with an over/under of 139.

Iโ€™ll use this projection as a guideline for what to expect when the market is released.

Florida vs. Tennessee Prediction – Saturday, Feb. 1

Based on KenPomโ€™s projection, my Florida vs. Tennessee college basketball prediction would be to back the Gators to cover the spread on the road this weekend.

I’d be surprised if Florida opens as a three-point underdog on Saturday. The Gators have been in better recent form, winning three straight and climbing to No. 5 on KenPom’s ratings. They passed Tennessee (No. 6 on KenPom) this week.

The Vols are dealing with a concerning injury ahead of this top-10 matchup. Zakai Zeigler, Tennessee’s best player, suffered an injury late in the first half against Kentucky. He returned in the second half, but it will be interesting to see how healthy he is after a few days off.

Florida ranks No. 3 in adjusted offensive efficiency, setting up a compelling clash against Tennessee’s No. 2 defense. I’ll take the points in a great battle on Saturday.

Prediction: Florida +3
