No, Miami had never been to the men’s Final Four prior to the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

That all changed when the No. 5 seed Hurricanes ripped off wins against Drake, Indiana, Houston, and Texas, punching their ticket to the national semifinals.

The latter two wins are particularly impressive, as both the Cougars and Longhorns have spent most of the season near the very top of the AP Poll in 2023.

Though the Hurricanes are going to their first-ever men’s Final Four, head coach Jim Larrañaga has certainly been before.

The elder statesman, now in his 12th year in Miami, helped author one of the great Cinderella runs in March Madness history: The 2006 George Mason streak to the Final Four.
