The Big 12 placed seven of its 10 teams into the NCAA Tournament. No other Division I conference had that large a percentage of its members included in this year’s March Madness pool.
The SEC and Big Ten both got eight total teams apiece in the tournament, but they have a combined 28 members.
Many college basketball analysts have emphasized just how deep with talent the Big 12 has been this year. Kansas, the defending national champion, is one of the four No. 1 seeds. Texas, the conference tournament winner, is a No. 2 seed.
The Big 12 is so deep with talent that its eighth-place team, West Virginia, is a No. 9 seed in the NCAA Tournament bracket.
All seven of the Big 12 tournament teams rank inside KenPom’s top 30.
