Kentucky earned its most recent college basketball national championship in 2012, defeating Kansas 67-59.
2012 Kentucky College Basketball National Championship
Head Coach John Calipari’s Wildcats entered the tournament as the No. 1 overall seed. It was their second-straight Final Four appearance after losing to Connecticut by a single point to end the 2011 season.
Eight-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis, a freshman at the time, took home Most Outstanding Player honors despite scoring just six points. He racked up 16 rebounds, six blocks, five assists, and three steals; his efforts proved that he was not just an offensive threat but a complete player who could contribute to a team in multiple capacities.
After winning the national championship, he was picked first overall by the Pelicans in the 2012 NBA draft.
