The Lobos are an NCAA Tournament automatic qualifier after winning the Mountain West basketball tournament. New Mexico will definitely play in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

New Mexico has not made the NCAA Tournament since 2014. However, the Lobos did win 22 games in 2023 โ€“ Richard Pitinoโ€™s second year as their head coach โ€“ and ultimately accepted a bid to the NIT. It lost 83-69 in the first round to Utah Valley.ย
