For the second straight season, Taylor Heinicke will serve as Justin Herbert’s backup on the Chargers. 

Los Angeles acquired Heinicke in a trade with the Falcons last August. Heinicke didn’t start for the Chargers during the 2024 season and enters the last year of his contract this season.
